SAFETY COORDINATOR
THE ROLE
As ETRO’s Safety Coordinator, you are helping create safer, smarter job sites across Compass Point Contracting and ETRO’s Interiors Projects Division. In this dynamic role, you’ll be at the forefront of safety—collaborating with site teams, ensuring compliance, conducting inspections, and driving a proactive safety culture. Reporting to the Occupational Health & Safety Lead, you’ll play a critical role in shaping safety strategies and making a real impact on every project. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Here’s what you’ll get up to as Safety Coordinator:
Health and Safety Leadership:
Act as a resource and advisor for project teams on all health and safety-related matters.
Support the implementation and maintenance of the company’s Health and Safety Management System.
Promote a proactive safety culture through education, engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Site Safety Support:
Conduct regular site inspections, hazard assessments, and audits to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
Provide guidance on safe work practices and monitor adherence to established procedures.
Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of corrective actions.
Develop project specific safety plans and safe work procedures.
Training and Communication:
Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and job-specific training as required.
Facilitate the dissemination of health and safety updates, resources, and best practices to site personnel.
Program Development and Implementation:
Collaborate with the Health and Safety Manager to develop and implement tailored safety programs for Compass Point Contracting and ETRO Construction.
Assist in ensuring that all policies and procedures align with provincial regulations and industry standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, incidents, and training activities.
Prepare and submit safety performance reports to the Health and Safety Manager and ETRO’s Management.
Collaboration and Engagement:
Partner with project managers, superintendents, and trade partners to identify and mitigate risks.
Participate in planning meetings and site-specific safety planning.

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
On top of your passion to work in a growing business full of professionals in the trade, here’s what we’re looking for:
Qualifications
Education: Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
Certifications:
Certified Construction Safety Coordinator (NCSO or equivalent) preferred.
First Aid/CPR certification required.
COR auditor certification is considered an asset.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience in health and safety within the construction industry, ideally in the ICI sector.
Experience supporting self-performed work and/or special projects is a strong asset.
Experience using Salus and Procore will be an asset.
Knowledge:
Comprehensive understanding of provincial OH&S regulations, codes, and industry best practices.
Familiarity with construction management processes and systems.

Salary range
$70,000 - $90,000
