Crystal Pool and Fitness Centre

The City of Victoria is replacing the aging Crystal Pool and Fitness Centre with a new, high-quality health and wellness facility designed to better meet the needs of the community. The ETRO-Durwest joint venture is serving as construction manager for the project, which will bring together aquatics, fitness, recreation and community programming in a climate-resilient, universally accessible building. Amenities include a 50-metre pool, leisure pool, hot pools, sauna and steam room, fitness studio, gymnasium, multi-purpose rooms and community gathering spaces.

Accessibility and inclusion are embedded into every aspect of the design. The facility follows universal design principles and will pursue Rick Hansen Foundation Gold Certification, with clear wayfinding, accessible circulation, multiple ways to enter the pools, level transitions and large universal washrooms and change rooms. The result will be a welcoming recreation centre designed for people of all ages and abilities.
